Living History

Today LFa students hiked the city of Ollantaytambo and the surrounding area, learning about how the Incas built the city. Much of Ollantaytambo is exactly how it has been for over 500 years, and families still live in houses built by this great civilization.


Here Adela is teching about the use of grain storage buildings in the mountains high above Ollantaytambo. Allthough they do not appear in the photo, these buildings were used as natural refrigerators for corn and other grains.

here is a good photo of the first of what will be many hikes in the mountains of the sacred valley. They are adjusting to the altitude well.

Tomorrow we head up the mountain to Patacancha...
